Conflict
One of the causes of knife crime is conflict, for example gang A and Gang B are fighting over their postcodes to see which one is stronger in battle, because of this such conflicts, the individuals involved normally carry weapons like knifes.
Postcode stabbing's are nothing but territorial conflicts. Foolish boys whom have low self-esteem think carrying a knife make them big. The fact is lots of them have mental problems. When they get angry, they are trying to problem solve, by stabbing people. If that is not insanity, then I do not know what is. It is clear that that knifes are a major factor in street crime these days, and I don't think it will ever stop if we don't work with young people in ways to help them with their confusion, and behaviour problems. I think programmes like The From Boyhood to Manhood Foundation is the type of programme lot of boys will go to for help. young men need other men to help them to understand how to deal with life. Moreover, they need to be more opportunity for young people with emotional difficulties to get help. When a young person commits a knife crime that is a call for help!

Knife Crime Projects
BE SAFE PROJECT…‘Knife Talk’
Be Safe…delivers a talk that allows the young person to question ‘why they carry a knife’…the short and long term repercussions of carrying them.
The cycle of revenge and reprisal attacks, the drastic effects on families as a result of serious injury or worse, a persons death. These realities are explained in an understandable way along with the medical implications of when someone is stabbed! Following this in-depth education…they are given choice, informed choices to make them think about the consequences.

Revenge
There are a number of causes, which contribute to knife crime among young people. For example:
- Revenge: Young people attacking other young people because of gang related issues.
- Revenge could also put a person’s families’ life at risk. For example: if a teenager stabs someone, the victim that got stab will also try to revenge against who stabbed him or her.
Revenge by using a knife is wrong, because it can be attempting murder and in extreme cases murder. Mostly, gangs member are the main perpetrators of knife violence.
Revenge only creates a circle of destruction, young people killing each other because of revenge
Many talented boys who could have done something else with their lives have been killed from stabbing because of gang problems. The whole point’s that “you stab my friend or me then I will stab you back in return” This is what is seen as revenging.

Protection
Carrying knives for protection is something some young people can’t help against, because every where they are crimes such as robberies, car theft and many more. So young people who are victims of crimes are more likely to protect themselves
Some people are even living in fear of their lives or even their families, because of the violence and crimes committed on the streets, so they have no option but to protect themselves against these violent minded thugs
It is clear that protection is a thing that some people need to have in certain circumstances but that does not mean in this case it is right.

The Crime & your Community 2 resource
Great resource specifically targeted at youth workers,it looks to stimulate discussions with young people on what they would do if a crime had been committed on someone that they know and looks at Happy Slapping and Knife Crime.

Gentian Akanga Recognition Recognition is very influential in knife crime. One individual may carry a knife and put it into action because they want to be noticed by others and gain respect for what they are doing, but in truth some of them are scared but they still proceed in doing so.
What some of these people don’t know is that if you are caught carrying a knife you could get up to 2 years in prison but if you’re lucky you’re looking at a fine or caution.
Pride, respect and recognition these knife carriers get from other people for carrying knifes and in the extreme cases actually stabbing someone.
Recognition is extremely influential and this is why many people are drawn into the life of knifes. I think they should go to the From Boyhood to Manhood Foundation to seek help with their emotional issues.
